Sharon Gancarz Davies

Sharon Gancarz Davies, LCSW, is an Infant Mental Health Specialist with Children’s Bureau of New Orleans. She is currently working as a Mental Health Consultant to childcare centers as part of the Louisiana Quality Start, a quality rating system (QRS) for child care. The goal of a QRS is to increase the quality of child care and early learning for all children throughout Louisiana, and to give parents and consumers the ability to understand, assess and demand higher quality. Previously at Children’s Bureau Project LAST, Gancarz-Davies provided grief and trauma counseling to young children and their families. Gancarz-Davies holds a Master of Social Work from Tulane University and a post graduate Certification in Infant Mental Health from Louisiana State University.

Gancarz Davies and her husband moved to New Orleans in 1993 with a plan to stay one year. However, after falling in love with the unique character and culture of the city they laid down roots. Her two children claim local status. She is a resident of the Freret Neighborhood and an active member of Neighbors United Neighborhood Association.

Since 2006, Gancarz Davies volunteered on The Urban Conservancy’s Stay Local! project for many years before joining The UC board in January 2009, and currently serves as The Urban Conservancy’s treasurer.
