Accident and Chaos: Channeling Jane Jacobs

Free screening of the documentary URBAN WISDOM. The film is a reflection on the ideas of urbanist thinker Jane Jacobs, author of “Death and Life of American Cities,” and an early champion of localism and community-based planning. Jacobs’ ideas have profoundly impacted the development of cities around the globe and hold particular relevance to post-Katrina New Orleans. Following the film will be a presentation by Renia Ehrenfeucht, author of “Sidewalks:Conflict and Negotiation over Public Space” Ehrenfeucht will discuss urban sidewalk culture and the relevance of Jane Jacob’s theories to the recovery of New Orleans and sidewalks in general.
