Music, Food, and Art on the Bayou!
Please consider attending and helping spread the word about this mid-city event on memorial day weekend. It has music from Anders Osborne, Wolfman Washington and many more, artist booths, lots of local restaurants serving food and, of course, beer.

MotherShip Foundation, the Mid-City Art Market and numerous neighborhood businessesNew Orleans- May 15, 2006- The Mid City Neighborhood Organization and the MotherShip Foundation announced today the first annual Bayou Boogaloo- an all day festival of music, art and culture celebrating the historic neighborhood of Mid-City. The event will be held along the banks of scenic Bayou St. John and on the neutral ground of S. Jefferson Davis Parkway. The Bayou Boogaloo is free and open to the public. Donations are being accepted.
Activates include a full day of music featuring notable local musical luminaries including Anders Osborne; the Kevin O’Day All Star Quartet featuring Walter “Wolfman” Washington and James Andrews; Big Chief Monk Boudreaux and Delta Funk; the Revealers and many others. Casa Samba, the city’s premier Brazilian music and dance ensemble, will entertain throughout the day on the neutral ground.
The Mid-City Art Market, which is celebrating its second anniversary, will be moving from its regular location to participate in the Bayou Boogaloo. Local and regional artists will be selling painting, pottery, jewelry, glass, metal, photography, textiles, furniture and accessories.
Besides the music and the Art Market, the Bayou Boogaloo with also include children’s activities and a business fair featuring realtors, builders, contractors, and non-profit organizations.
