Nagin to Eliminate Contract Review Panel

NEW ORLEANS — Mayor C. Ray Nagin will hold a public meeting at noon Wednesday regarding his new executive order mandating the complete removal of selection review panels in the city’s professional services contracts selection process — a move that City Council Vice President Arnie Fielkow calls a “scorched earth policy” to avoid the Louisiana Open Meetings Law.
As an apparent response to the council’s unanimous vote to open the city’s contracting of professional services up to full transparency, Nagin issued a new executive order that removes the inclusion of a public representative on the selection panel. Read more.
