Despite Hurricane Barry’s best efforts, BASIN rolled on schedule July 15-19. Through a variety of hands-on experiences, presentations, and field trips, twenty-four elementary, high school, and college-aged students worked together to learn how they can use their voices, their creative problem-solving skills, and teamwork to lead positive change in their neighborhoods and to promote the wise stewardship of our natural and built environments for a safer, healthier, and less flood-prone city.
Deepest gratitude to our presenters from the Sewerage and Water Board, Dana Brown & Associates, Gibbs and Cox Maritime Solutions, Friends of Lafitte Greenway Ambassador Lichelle Gibson; and to our sponsors: The Edgar “Dooky” Jr. and Leah Chase Family Foundation, The Edward Wisner Donation, and our GiveNOLA Day donors (that’s you!).
