FYI on BBC News World Service

In February 2024, BBC’s Rare Earth radio program featured the Front Yard Initiative and other New Orleans stormwater efforts in a show called “How to Floodproof a City.” This week, they aired a more in-depth version of our story called “Front Yard Floods” as an episode of their “People Fixing the World” program.

The hosts talked to homeowners, green infrastructure contractors, city staff, and our executive director about steps we’re all taking to mitigate flood risk. It’s interesting to listen as we acknowledge Hurricane Katrina’s 20th anniversary; so many of the people interviewed refer back to the advent of Katrina as a pivotal moment that changed what “living with water” means to them.
