BASIN Update January 2026

We are in the planning stages of another exciting year of BASIN! This year, by request of last year’s participants, the topic is urban habitat. We’ll start the year with a series of field trips to both natural and urban habitats and meet with experts who can help us explore them. Through these trips, the kids will be exposed not only to the gorgeous biodiversity around them, but also to potential career paths that they can discuss with the subject matter experts they meet. 

In the second part of the year, they’ll choose a problem that they’re inspired to solve, and we’ll work with experienced changemakers to develop appropriate solutions and projects. Finally, they’ll present those solutions to the people who can help implement them.

It’s exciting, and perhaps a little scary to start off a year of youth programming that will be so learner-directed that we’ll really just be along for the ride. But we have so much faith in these kids, and we can’t wait to see what good they bring to the world. Join us!
