BASIN Update April 2025

We’re off! This year, we’re trying something new with BASIN+. We’ll spend the early part of the year learning the basics about green and gray infrastructure and how our city stays dry; then our participants will pick areas that they care about, and feel could be improved by the addition of green infrastructure. At the end of the year, they’ll meet with decision makers to propose real, well-thought-through solutions.

Kids are our future, sure, but they’re also our present. They’re intelligent, and they know what’s going on. New Orleans kids see the problems we’ve got, and middle schools are at an age where they’re growing ever more aware–and eager to contribute. So we’re going to let them. We’ll teach them what they want to know and empower them to find the solutions. Then, we’ll teach them to advocate for those solutions. And…We’ll see what happens. Stay tuned for updates!
